Royal Links Return: Curtis Granderson's taste in comedies is questionable; there is no such thing as minor testicle surgery

SURPRISE, Ariz. --- OK, I'm settled back here after the trip to Florida, internet is back on in the house we're staying at, so hopefully we can get back to the normal blogging schedule.

And that means links.

Be back this afternoon with that interview I promised.

Baseball division

* Glad I'm not the only one who thinks Billy Crystal playing for the Yankees is absurd. I don't find Crystal very funny, and get sick of his hey-look-at-me-I'm-a-Yankees-fan! shtick, so maybe I'm biased here, but I hope he takes the first pitch he sees in the ribs.

* In some ways, this is why the Royals made the trade for Alberto Callaspo.

* One list of the ten greatest moments in Royals history. Personally, eight of my 10 might be Bo Jackson-related. And is it depressing that the most recent moment came in 1992?

* My friend Jeff Passan writes about Brian Bannister.

* I have two things to point out regarding this story about Felix Pie's twisted testicle. One: how in the &$^# can anything done down there be called "minor surgery, and, Two: the injury happened early in camp, but Pie moved up surgery the day after getting three hits against the Royals.

* Curtis Granderson is one of my favorite players, both to watch and interview, but how can "Money Talks" be on this list and no "Dumb and Dumber?"

* Ichiro is an interesting dude, and his reaction to this hitless streak is just the latest example.

Kansas City basketball division:

* Love watching Michael Beasley play, and I know there are some Wildcats fans on my colleague Jason Whitlock for writing about Beasley driving a Hummer. No proof or accusations in this, but does it smell to anyone that the guy carries around four cell phones?

* My man Jason King writes about Wyandotte High's Boo Richardson.

* Goodness. Kenyon Martin got caught at 101 in a freaking 30 and that's not even his career high on the radar gun. You know it's bad when a prosecutor is suspended for the deal he made with you.

Gil Meche: The older brother of the Royals' rotation talks bowling, collecting baseball cards, and sliders

Very good first-day turnout on Twitter. Thank you. If you're on and haven't found me, I'm at "mellinger." Let's join up, we'll have fun.

You may have noticed we didn't have an MGD update after the weekend, and that's because of a bonus weekend post on SI coverboy/comedian Zack Greinke, and that Davies' start on Thursday means we won't miss a week with an MGD update.

Zack Greinke: Ball Star's most requested interview subject talks trucks, fighting, and trash

Zack Greinke, for a lot of reasons, might be the most interesting player on the Royals roster, and this is a team that includes an outfielder who owns lions and ostriches and likes to be slapped in the face, a pitcher who was knighted by his native Aruba, another who works construction in the offseason, and a reliever who body slams opposing players and prides himself on his baking.

Greinke is the most-requested interview for this blog, and if you act now, you can read a bonus interview where Kyle Davies defends himself against what he alleges is Greinke's slander. All in good fun.

Army Maj. Michael Lalor: Rooting on the Royals from Iraq

Confession time. That "contest" we ran here
was officially won by Tom Barkwell from Madagascar, and I loved both his words and the fact that he sent them from an island nation in the Indian Ocean, but I gotta tell you, it wasn't my favorite letter.

Nope, my favorite came from Army Maj. Michael Lalor, whose words came from Iraq.

I didn't mention this in the original contest because I wanted to give Michael his own post. He was kind enough to answer some questions over e-mail, which we're turning into the latest interview. His letter is below our e-mail exchange.
